Project 011 – WOOD

WOOD was my very first completely self-designed case. Built from solid oak wood with all internal parts 3D-printed in carbon fiber, this project became a true design statement. The side panels can be swapped between clear plexiglass or vented plexiglass with a honeycomb pattern, depending on whether aesthetics or airflow should be prioritized.

This build cost me countless hours of designing, printing, and refining details. The goal was to achieve an elegant and clean look, where unsightly parts would remain hidden. For this reason, I created custom covers for most connectors, used carefully matched details, and even chose gold-anodized screws to complete the premium design.

I originally wanted to equip the system with a NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition for its clean, understated style. Since these cards weren’t available in Switzerland, I went with the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition instead – a card that surprised me with excellent performance, especially for video editing thanks to its strong hardware decoding features.

Even without additional case fans, the PC runs surprisingly cool and has never needed throttling. WOOD is still in my possession today, but it’s looking for a new owner who appreciates its unique craftsmanship. On request, I am also happy to provide the CAD files of this case.
